Fenego has been thriving for an impressive 15 years, a milestone worth celebrating! To honor this significant occasion, we invited our entire team to embark on a delightful weekend getaway in the enchanting city of Valencia. It was an opportunity to raise our glasses to our incredible team, reminisce about the countless cherished memories we have created together, and set our sights on the exciting journey ahead! Allow us to share the highlights of our unforgettable weekend.

No more mandatory covid masks, no curfews, cuddle buddies, or the sanitizing of shopping carts,... the pandemic seems like a distant memory. We have all moved on and picked up our lives as they were before. Nevertheless, the effect on office life is still noticeable. Due to covid restrictions, many companies were challenged to find new, remote ways to work together in an efficient manner. Although there were some obstacles to overcome at Fenego, we succeeded in making the whole work-from-home situation work! After being allowed by Belgian regulators to physically work in our office again, employees seemed to struggle to find their way back to the office. They found a rhythm in remote working and discovered the advantages it can bring. As we have gained experience in working remotely as a group, a full-time return to the office was not necessary. Instead, we have used the knowledge gained over recent years to make the transition to a new way of working: hybrid working.

Roel van Alebeek, e-commerce architect, was asked 7 years ago if he wanted to help set up a new Coop.nl platform. During the project, he was responsible for the integrations and technical developments of the platform. Today we talk to him about his experiences at Coop.nl, the choice for the Intershop commerce platform and of course the collaboration with Fenego.

As online shopping experiences and digital spend continue to grow in an ever-changing world, being able to quickly push new features is a a key goal to pursue. At Fenego, we accelerate the development of new features by desiging best-of-breed solutions and isolating custom USPs in microservices. In this article we zoom in on some technical aspects of our microservices and reveal why this is exactly beneficial for modern organizations. One of our in-house experts, Vincent Nagy, explains how we're able to deliver ultra-fast and flexible features.

Meet Mark, who found himself interning at Cronos Limburg on the Corda Campus after graduating in programming. Impressed by his skills, Cronos offered him a permanent contract, and soon after, Mark was introduced to Fenego. Thirteen and a half years later, Mark is still working at Fenego and loving it. He especially appreciates the camaraderie of his colleagues, the daily challenges he faces, and the opportunity to work with a diverse set of clients. Aside from his love for his job, Mark also finds joy in cycling to work. He finds it to be a fantastic way to kickstart and wind down his day. Initially, he used to drive his car to work, but as he began to have less time to cycle on the weekends, he switched to cycling. For the past decade, Mark has commuted to work on his recumbent bicycle, covering an impressive distance of approximately 140,000 kilometers, according to his records. Mark hardly finds any reason to leave his recumbent bike in the garage. Only extreme weather conditions such as a lot of snow or a storm, or technical problems with his bicycle, will force him to get into his car. For Mark, as long as his body allows him to, he will continue to bike to work.

In 2011, Jens and Jonas, two students from the KDG Hogeschool, started their internship at Fenego. Jens was allowed to borrow his mother's car and went to pick up Jonas at the station. However, they were quickly able to get rid of this arrangement and have now been driving around in a Fenego company car for about ten years. Jens and Jonas made an impression during their eight-week internship at Fenego and were therefore offered a permanent position. The nice work environment at Fenego and the colleagues with a high degree of expertise made the decision very easy for them to start working as developers at Fenego. Fast forward to 2022 and Jens & Jonas can still be found in our offices together. During their eleven years at Fenego, they received support to realize their personal ambitions and every opportunity to discover and try new things.

As strategic Platinum Intershop partner, Fenego will attend the upcoming Intershop Inpulse event. Besides joining inspiring talks and meet-ups, Fenego will host a keynote concerning the transformation to a servitisation based business model to maintain market leadership. Martijn Reissenweber, global director at Huisman services, will join as announced speaker at Intershop Inpulse to elaborate on how Huisman quickly transformed their business model when their competitive position came under pressure.
