AI that works for B2B

Intershop Partner AI Dev Days 2025

In early October, our colleagues Martijn and Maxim joined the Intershop Partner AI Dev Days in Jena. For two full days, developers, product experts, partners, and Intershop teams came together around one mission: AI that truly delivers for B2B e-commerce.

The workshops were hands-on, practical, and highly inspiring. Instead of talking about AI in abstract terms, participants worked with real prototypes, new features, and actual customer use cases. Here are some of the key takeaways we brought home.

AI assistant embedded in the PWA

Intershop Copilot

One of the main highlights was Intershop Copilot, the AI assistant available directly in the storefront. What sets it apart from generic chatbots? Copilot is natively integrated into the Intershop Progressive Web App (PWA).

That means it can do more than just chat, it can take real actions, such as adding products directly to the shopping cart.

Through a smart integration with Flowise, a visual AI agent builder, Copilot can be configured without deep technical expertise. But there’s an important nuance: the AI interprets instructions itself, so outcomes are not always 100% predictable. That’s why building fallback options into standard flows remains crucial.

👉 Example: When a customer asks Copilot to add a product to the cart, it doesn’t just return a link, it performs the action directly in the PWA.

Another decisive advantage is that Copilot recognizes logged-in users through the session token. This means authentication and security remain firmly under platform control, never delegated to AI. For B2B organizations, that’s a real game-changer: it unlocks secure, high-value use cases well beyond generic chatbot interactions, from calculating customer-specific pricing to navigating confidential documents with confidence.

AI as an accelerator, Not a replacement

Key mindset takeaway

A key mindset takeaway from the Dev Days: AI doesn’t replace, it empowers.

  • AI enhances existing features rather than replacing them.

  • AI is not yet fully reliable; human validation remains essential.

Whether it’s searching through hundreds of customer documents or supporting complex configurations, AI can save hours of work, as long as the source of information stays transparent and traceable.

Data-driven search results

Sparque & Google Analytics

Another exciting update came from Sparque. Thanks to a new integration with Google Analytics, Sparque can now use GA reports as datasets.

This makes it possible to fuel search results and product recommendations not only with catalog data, but also with real user behavior. The result? Smarter, data-driven search experiences that drive relevance and conversion.

What this means for B2B e-commerce

Concrete building blocks

The Intershop Partner AI Dev Days proved one thing: AI is no longer a future vision, it’s a concrete building block in today’s B2B commerce landscape.

For Fenego, this means:

Supporting our customers with smart, integrated AI applications.

Prioritizing trust, transparency, and reliability in every solution.

Using AI to accelerate processes rather than replace them.

Martijn and Maxim returned with new ideas, practical insights, and plenty of inspiration to bring into our projects.
